Amy is part of four generations of P.E.O., having been initiated by her mother in Chapter AV in Alamogordo, NM. Later, after she moved to Georgia and while serving as Chapter BO’s first president, she had the joy of initiating her daughter, Nicki Thomas, currently a member of Chapter BH. Her great aunt, Opal Lee Priestley, was a long-time member of Chapter I in Las Cruces, NM. Amy has also been a member of Chapter AC in Gainesville. She has held the office of President, Vice President, Treasurer, Recording and Corresponding Secretary as well as chairing numerous committees and projects. She served on the convention steering committee in 2009 and was co- chair of the 2019 convention. She was a delegate to the International Convention in 2007, received the charter list and was a charter member of Chapter BO and has served on the state nominating committee. The past 3 years Amy has served on the International Projects Committee. She has been a delegate and visitor to many GA state conventions.
Amy attended NMSU and Cupertino Community College. After a career in travel and hospitality, Amy took a detour and went to work for the Town of Braselton nearly 12 years ago. Starting out as the downtown director and main street manager, she has been instrumental in creating a community development department which she now heads as Braselton’s Community Development Director. She leads her team in managing the town’s marketing and branding strategies, social media, public relations, community events, volunteer and buy local programs as well as collaborating with tourism initiatives.
Amy met and married her husband Dave while he was serving in the United States Air Force. After 12 moves in about 16 years, he lovingly convinced her to raise their two children in his home state of Georgia in 2001. While she misses mountains and desert sunsets, she’s never regretted the decision and is now a huge Bulldawgs fan. Besides their daughter, they have one son, Clint Pinnell. Dave and Amy cherish their 3 granddaughters Eliza Marie, Alice and Linden and their one outnumbered grandson Oliver along with 2 very spoiled spaniels. They have a love of muscle cars with a small collection and are avid DIYers as they have spent the past 6 years remodeling their home and property in Jefferson.
