Peery Moran comes to the executive board from Chapter AI, Columbus, where she has served as an officer in all positions except guard and chaplain. She has been a local chapter delegate to several Georgia State conventions and served on several Georgia State committees as well as a convention steering committee.
Peery had to leave Georgia to come home. After graduating from UGA with a degree in Marketing, Transportation, Logistics and Physical Distribution, she moved to her first job in New Jersey but returned five years later in a company transfer. She then returned to college and obtained a Master of Science degree and her license to practice physical therapy. A P.E.O. scholarship helped her make this happen. Her physical therapy work took her to various Georgia communities and settings, including outpatient, acute care, nursing home and home health. She is currently employed by a major healthcare provider in Columbus.
Peery’s personal P.E.O. journey began in New Jersey when she was initiated into Chapter ASNJ. However, P.E.O. was already in Peery’s life as her mother, maternal grandmother, a paternal aunt and two paternal grand aunts were all P.E.O. sisters. She also has a cousin who is a P.E.O. in Virginia. Peery moved from her New Jersey chapter to Chapter AN, Atlanta, and then to her present Chapter AI.
In addition to her commitment to P.E.O., volunteering for various church and community groups has been a focal point of Peery’s life since childhood. Paralympics, Parkinson’s and ALS support groups, vision impaired persons, employment betterment groups and her church’s educational, music and leadership programs have all benefited from her interest, skills and dedication.
Peery does not join the executive board without intention. Serving on the state executive board has always been a goal for her. She believes that leading and serving the sisterhood on the state level is a living memorial to her mother, grandmother and aunts while continuing a 3-generation legacy of membership.
