Tips to Make Your STAR Candidate Shine
Review these STAR Qualities with your candidate BEFORE she completes her application:
Leadership– Student should be a proven leader inside and outside of school, this might even include within the home.
Extracurricular Activities– Student should show participation in extracurriculars for at least 2 years during her high school career. Encourage her to include ALL activities.
Community Service– Student should provide a list of service hours for EACH year of high school that she volunteered. Remember that community service does not necessarily have to be with established organizations or groups. STARs are self-motivated!
Essay– This is the student’s opportunity to make herself shine! If possible, ask her to allow you to review her essay to ensure she is presenting herself in the best possible light. Get input from chapter sisters who have skills and experience in hiring, revie”wing applications and recruiting.
References– These should NOT be from family members but someone who knows her well and will provide detailed glimpses into her present and future. Remind students to allow references plenty of time to complete their part. Don’t wait to get this done!
Remember that students will have 30 days following receipt of the link from International to complete their application.
